A Poem to my Boy for Mothers Day

Soon it will be Mothers Day, a day to show us Mums you care,

But I would like to say to you son, I’m not sure Mothers Day is fair.

You see, there’s no special day for you, my little man,

A day for me to say to you that my life changed when we saw your scan.

So I am turning the tables, making this day for me and you,

I know I tell you every day but just once more, I love you I do.

There is a special place in my heart, that will only ever be your place,

It grows a little more every day, especially when I see a smile on your face.

I know we had a rocky start, it took a while to get used to each other,

But whatever happened, you must know I was thrilled to be your Mother.

Slowly but surely, our bond grew and now we are the best of friends,

I hope you know whatever you need in years to come, I will be there to tend.

At two years old my heart bursts with pride, you’re such a clever boy,

I love to see your little face when you play with your favourite toy.

So come and sit on my lap a while, let’s not waste this precious time,

Because a mothers day with just your love and cuddles will do me just fine.

What a beautiful poem. A lovely thought to share mother’s day with our children. After all, we wouldn’t be mummies if it wasn’t for them 🙂
