My Mothers Day 2015
Yesterday was my third Mothers Day. Yesterday was the first Mothers Day I felt worthy of having one.
Mothers Day is to celebrate our Mums and how great they are at being a Mother. My two previous Mothers Day I felt I wasn’t being a very good Mum, consumed with anxiety and guilt, I worried a lot that it was affecting Little Man. Now I look back I realise that I’m his Mummy and that is literally all that matters to him and he wasn’t aware one little bit of how tough I was finding it. So yesterday, I told the guilt to take a running jump and I embraced Mothers Day. After all, Little Man has turned out such a lovely little boy I must have been doing something right!
Our Mothers Day celebrations started on Saturday evening where we joined my parents at a favourite pub and had dinner all together. I have a lot to thank my own Mum for. Of course there is the obvious of doing a fine old job bringing me up but now I am an adult her motherly love and support has been as solid as always. She has helped me with Little Man and simply put, taught me how to be a Mum.
On Mothers Day itself I woke up with a stinking cold but all the rubbish feelings went away as my toddler came toddling in very carefully holding a bowl of cereal for my breakfast in bed and a card. I didn’t go downstairs until 8:30am. I know all you Mums are feeling the joy right here with me, especially if you know from my Tweets that Little Man has been waking up circa 5am. Waiting for me downstairs were some beautiful flowers and a little teddy. Little Man had given me a handmade card that he had made at nursery too.
We later went to my husbands parents house to see my Mother-in-law to give her Body Shop goodies and have a cheeky MacDonalds. Little Man had a great time! I then spent the afternoon (not cleaning) watching Disney films with Little Man and G.
Being a Mum is the best thing in the world and although it is argued that we don’t need a ‘Clintons’ day to tell our Mums we love them I think it’s rather nice. In these busy lives we lead who has time to really show our thanks, appreciation and love for the wonderful people in our lives. I hope everyone had a lovely Mothers Day however you spent it.
