I love cake. I also love exciting post. Imagine this for one second…cake coming through your letterbox. When Baker Days offered me the chance to review one of their letterbox cakes and offer you lovely lot the chance of winning one too, I literally jumped at the chance (I may have done a happy cake dance – don’t judge me).
If you haven’t heard of Baker Days before, they are a cake company who provide lots of cakes including letterbox cakes. Cakes that you can personalise and send through the post to your nearest and dearest. Or you could just send it to yourself, like I did, hehe! They are 5 inch round cakes (4-5 servings) and you can pretty much personalise them however you want; maybe a special message to a special someone. They are basically a birthday card in cake.
I have mentioned
a hundred times once or twice that this month I have turned 30 so I ordered a 30th cake for the occasion. It was delivered in a sturdy box; when I opened it the first thing that struck me was how beautifully it was presented. The cake was in a lovely little tin which I loved and there was also a party squeaker, candles, card and balloons too! What a lovely little touch.
The cake was wrapped up and had instructions on the best way to get the cake out safely. What is very important to point out is that the cake was all in one piece considering it had travelled through the post and been shoved through the letterbox by the postman.
My cake was super pretty and exactly what I had asked for.
Now for the taste test! My Mum, G and Little Man were all very happy to help with tasting and we were all really impressed. The sponge was moist and really very tasty and the icing was soft and yummy too. It is obviously quite a thin cake but I wouldn’t have expected anything else considering it was posted! It had a best before date of 2 weeks on it, not that it lasted that long.
If you are looking for something a little different to send to a loved one, head on over to Baker Days via the links below and see what you think. A sponge letter box cake will cost you £14.99 which I think is reasonable considering the convenience of the service and a yummy cake too!
Baker Days have very kindly given you the chance to win one of their letterbox cakes so if you fancy one have a go on the competition below. All you need is a Twitter account.
