It is the beginning of September. The days where lots and lots of little people have embarked on their new school life. I have 2 years till Little Man starts school, he will be nearly 5 by then. I can’t wait to take photos of him in his new uniform looking super cute. I will take them, coo over them and then put them onto Facebook for all of our friends and family to coo over too…at least I think they will. I have noticed the last few days a few Facebook friends moaning about the back to school photos that have filled their newsfeed. It seems some people are really really grumpy about this.
This frustrated me a bit to be honest.
We all had our first days at school and we all had parents that stuck a camera in our faces; so proud of their little one starting such a big adventure. The only difference is they didn’t have anywhere to share them other than in a photo album to pull out at 18th birthday parties and wedding days.
What do I want to say to the grumps of Facebook? Well, there is a lot of rubbish on social media these days. Our newsfeeds are cluttered with ‘share this otherwise you will have bad luck for the rest of your life’ or a million requests to play Candy Crush. What could be lovlier than seeing your friends kids dressed up in their slightly too large uniforms, excited for their new adventure as a school kid. That seems a lot nicer to me look at. And after all it is only for a few days and then your newsfeed will be back to pointless stuff. Don’t be so hard on us parents sharing our most precious things with you, sharing how proud we are of our little humans.
I hope these comments or silly images don’t put parents off sharing these moments. Come September 2017 I will be proudly poised with my camera, tears in my eyes and ready to share my boy in his uniform with my friends and family.
To all those families who have had a first day at school day this week I hope they loved every minute of it.
