Welcome back to my Bedtime Story of the Month series. When I am not being a Mummy or a Blogger I am a School Librarian for a load of teenagers. I see every day why it is so important to read to our little ones as early as possible. I can’t stress enough how much of a difference reading to and with your young children makes for them later in life. So with this in mind I thought I would begin to share some favourite books in our house Every month I will share a new story that we have been enjoying at bedtime.. Little Man has a bedtime story every night; it is one of my favourite parts of the day and really helps to settle him.
So lets get started for October. I could recite October’s story to you now we have read it so much. Dinosaurs in the Supermarket by Timothy Knapman & Sarah Warburton.
This is the first picture book that Little Man ever sat down with and listened to the whole story. It is a hilarious story about a little boy trying to tell people that there are dinosaurs in the supermarket but nobody believes him. It is a rhyming story and therefore really easy for Little Man to join in with. I think he could tell me the story to be honest. Little Man is also dinosaur mad so he loves to spot the different types. There is a handy pronunciation part at the back for parents so we know how to say them correctly which I needed!
This book has wonderful illustrations, we can spend a good 5 minutes hunting for the hidden dinosaurs on some of the pages. This book is great for a fun read, sometimes a bit too exciting for bedtime but a great book all the same. Little Man will choose this book over and over again so I think that is the true sign of a good picture book.
We are always on the lookout for new bedtime stories so please let me know if you have any recommendations.
Have a lovely day.
