From My Bookshelf Series

From My Bookshelf

Welcome to my new series for 2015 – From My Bookshelf. As I have mentioned in previous posts my other job is as a School Librarian. I am a fully fledged professionally qualified Librarian; always trying to quash the stereotypical ideas of Librarians (FYI I don’t wear a twin set, I don’t spend all day putting books in order or stamping them). I read a lot and although I already share my favourite books for kids on the blog with my Bedtime Story of the Month series I wanted to share a bit more of my reading world with you. I read a lot of adult fiction, I can’t resist a chick lit but I also read loads of young adult and teen fiction due to my job.

The purpose of this series is to share the books I read with you. Hopefully I can give you some ideas for your next read but also if you have teenagers who enjoy reading or reluctant readers I can share with you some great teen reads too.

I have a genuine love of reading and I cannot tell you how important it is to get our kids reading, it helps them so much in every area of life. One of the best ways to encourage reading in children is for them to see you reading and well, there are worse things to be doing whilst setting a great example to your kids!

I have peaks and troughs with reading depending on what I am doing for work but also how much time I have to sit and read. Every time I finish a book I will share it here on the blog; a mini review. I hope that you can join me for this. I have an ever growing list of books I really want to read so if you have any recommendations please do leave them in the comments for me!

Here are the posts in the series so far:

Good luck! I try and do a monthly round up of what I read, but I got a bit behind on this last year. Going to try and do it this year though. (It’s only 12 posts, how hard can it be?!)

I love the sound of this series! I also love the sound of your bedtime story of the month series and will be exploring that next as I have a 2.5 year old that loves and devours books :-). Emily #PickNMixFridays

Oooh I’m going to love this series as I love to read myself and to read to my children. I run a linky with Angela from Days in Bed on the third Monday or every month – called Kids Love To Read – it would be amazing if you wanted to link these posts up to that. I look forward to reading more x

Oh I’m hoping this series will help get me back in to reading. Growing up I also had my nose in a book and pre kids I would take 6 books with me on holiday and still run out! I find it really hard to read for myself now although the boys have stories every night. Thanks for linking to #PickNMix x

It is tricky to find the time, my job helps as it means I have to get certain things read! xx

What a lovely idea for a series! I’ve always read to and with my two, bedtime story time was always my favourite time when they were small 🙂 Thanks for linking up to Pick ‘n’ Mix chick
