Bedtime Story of the Month – February – The Mr Men Series

Bedtime (1)

Welcome back to my Bedtime Story of the Month series. When I am not being a Mummy or a Blogger I am a School Librarian for a load of teenagers. I see every day why it is so important to read to our little ones as early as possible. I can’t stress enough how much of a difference reading to and with your young children makes for them later in life. So with this in mind I thought I would begin to share some favourite books in our house Every month I will share a new story that we have been enjoying at bedtime.. Little Man has a bedtime story every night; it is one of my favourite parts of the day and really helps to settle him.

So lets get started for February. I am doing a series for this month; The Mr Men series by Roger Hargreaves.

Little Man’s grandparents bought him a big set of Mr Men books when he was a baby. They were one of the sets of books I read to him at bedtime when he was too young to understand them but we were establishing a bedtime routine so it was nice for me to read them again. He has shown an interest in them again so we are working our way through them at bedtime. I love the slight vintage feel about these books and the way the stories are told. They literally make us both laugh out loud when we read the together.

In comparison to story books nowadays they are quite simple in presentation but in a way I think that makes them more endearing. Little Man’s particular favourites are Mr Tickle & Mr Strong. I really enjoy being able to share stories with Little Man that my parents shared with me when I was his age and the Mr Men books are perfect for this as the stories are timeless

We are always on the lookout for new bedtime stories so please let me know if you have any recommendations.

Have a lovely day.
