Twin Pregnancy Diary – 18-22 Weeks
Welcome back to my Twin Pregnancy Diary. I am going to try and record as much of my pregnancy as I can over the next few months so come along. For more information on why I decided to do this head over here.
So today’s update is catching you up from 18 weeks to now when I am 22 weeks. It has been a month of ups and downs. So off we go.
I am going to group this time period together as there haven’t particularly been changes week by week as such. I have just read my last update back and I can definitely see the changes from then.
The biggest symptom change has been the morning sickness. Although I still have it really bad in the mornings and sometimes the evenings it has eased off in the middle of the day which has helped a lot. I am functioning a bit easier now and able to eat properly. The only problem I have now is if I let myself get too hungry in the day.
The only other new symptom has been general aches and pains in my bump area. I am getting really quite big now and my skin is feeling very stretched as are my muscles. I am carrying all out front which I am grateful for but by the end of the day I am glad to be in bed. I purchased a maternity cushion too which has really helped with comfort at night.
I am feeling the twins loads now even though my placenta is anterior and G has felt them kick from the outside too which was lovely.
This time period has seen the beginning of my fortnightly consultant appointments. I have found these incredibly reassuring. As the twins are identical this means that they have their own sacs but share a placenta making us high risk. It has been great to be able to see them every week and know that they are being checked for Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome too.
I have also had my 20 week scan which was a bit strange as the sonographer wasn’t very confident with scanning twins and I ended up having to go back again for the second part of the scan a couple of weeks after. Both babies are doing fine though and growing nicely.
So we are now at 22 weeks, the babies are arund 28cm long crown to heel now which is crazy to think there are 2 of those in my tummy!!!
I hope you enjoyed this update for previous updates see below.
These weekly updates are written (not always published) on the day I turn 13 weeks for example so I am talking about the week previous to that.
