A Bittersweet Announcement

My blog and writing is such a big part of my life; I spend half my life doing something and writing the blog post about it in my head at the same time. For once, however I just couldn’t find the words. But, this blog is all about the ups and downs of parenting and from a more personal point of view a family diary for us. I have gone backwards and forwards deciding whether to just shut it down, whether to skim over things or tell you about what’s happened. I’m going with the third option. So here goes, our bittersweet announcement.

Myself, G & Little Man would like to announce the birth of our twin girls. Born at 29 weeks on 30th July. Little Lady Joyce weighed 3lbs when she was born and is doing well in the special care baby unit. Sadly, Heidi Sophia gained her angel wings and was born sleeping. It has been a hard couple of weeks but we feel so blessed to have Little Lady still with us and to have met our angel Heidi.

Yesterday we had a very private but beautiful memorial service for our baby girl Heidi. We have set up a Just Giving page to tell Heidi & Little Lady’s story and to help Kicks Count raise awareness about the importance of those precious baby kicks. If anyone would like to donate in memory of Heidi you can find the page here. You can also read more about what happened there. We want to raise as much money as we can in Heidi’s memory.

Little Lady has a long road ahead but is going from strength to strength. We are so proud of her and Little Man is in love with his new baby sister.

I may be quiet on here for a few weeks while I find my new routine of time with Little Man and hospital visits. I’m not ready to write about how it all feels yet but I hope that in time I can share with you more and more especially posts surrounding having a baby in special care.

Speak to you all very soon.

Oh Rachel, I am so, so sorry for the loss of your darling Heidi. & I am also so pleased that Lydia is getting stronger – it seems so strange to try to give congratulations and condolences at the same time. I don’t have words. I do have best wishes for your Lydia and her continued recovery, and for your family at such a difficult time, though. xx
