Monthly Best Bits – October

best-bitsWell it has been a while since I have sat down to write a post like this. Before I had the twins I used to join in with Stevie over at A Cornish Mum and her linky about things you have loved that month. She has changed her linky (Liked and Loved Linky) a bit so I have changed my posts to match. Every month I will share a few of the best bits from our month.

I have to say I haven’t had the best time over the last few months but there’s nothing like looking back through your photos on your phone from the last month and remembering the nice things. So here goes, the best bits of October

Bringing Little Lady Home – Right at the beginning of the month we finally got to bring our Little Lady home after her 9 weeks in hospital. It was the most scary, overwhelming and happiest day. I will be writing more about her soon and introducing her properly.

Being at Home – From the moment I gave birth I spent a lot of time with Little Lady in the Neonatal Unit. Little Man was so understanding but he missed me and I missed him too. I have never felt so torn between 2 people as I did for those 9 weeks. Being at home and having them both in the same place is something I will never take for granted. Hard as it may be it has been so lovely. It has also been nice seeing friends and family again and finally being able to introduce Little Lady to them.

Halloween – I haven’t been all that fussed about Halloween before this year but Little Man has got really into it so we have used it as a bit of a half term theme! Pinterest Mum I am not but we did some lovely crafts with my Mum and went on a pumpkin trail too.

Wave of Light – Baby Loss Awareness Week came in October and although everything that had happened was still very raw for me Wave of Light came at just the right time. It was on the 15th, the same date as the girls due date making it all extra special. Seeing so many people light a candle for babies lost was so very sad but also uplifting to see everyone coming together over quite a taboo subject. Friends and family mentioned my baby girl by name too which really touched me.

Little Man’s Birthday – Although Little Man’s birthday was only in the second week of Little Lady being home I wanted to make it as extra special as possible for him. He has been such a patient little one with everything that has been going on. We threw a party for him at home, it was small but he loved it. He really did have a lovely party day and then spent the day of his actual birthday simply playing with all his new toys. It was relaxed but perfect.

So there we are; not too many best bits because as you can imagine, there are still quite a few bad bits but it’s nice to see the positives of a very hard month written down in front of me.

See you this time next month for November’s best bits; let the countdown to Christmas begin!
