Little Lady – An Update
So many lovely people on social media have been asking how the Little Lady is doing so I thought I would do a little update.
On the 3rd October we finally bought Little Lady home after 9 weeks in hospital. She was supposed to come home the week before but ended up being rushed to a neighboring hospital for a hernia operation. Thankfully that was nice and straightforward.
Little Lady is now four and half months actual age and 9 weeks corrected. I didn’t really understand the difference in the ages before having a prem baby but they are so important as at the moment her development is on a par with a baby of her corrected age. Our Health Visitor has told me that she will hopefully be caught up by the time she is 2.
So, what is our Little Lady like. I think the most apt word for her is feisty. She may be small but she already has a mind of her own. She is loud, demanding and quite the little character. I love this. After days of watching her in an incubator barely moving and certainly not crying I can’t let the crying get to me now. She has worked so hard for that cry. She feeds well and absolutely loves her milk. Again she had to learn how to feed once she had come off her feeding tube and has mastered it perfectly. There is nothing that will keep Little Lady away from her milk.
At her last weigh in she was 10lbs 15oz so is growing really well with the help of special milk for premature babies. Considering she was just over 4lbs when she came home I’m so pleased that she has thrived since she has been home.
Little Lady has just started to smile and again, I am so grateful every time I see one of these. There were times sat next to her incubator that I wondered if I ever would see her smile or hear her giggle but now we get both in bucket loads and it warms my Mummy heart every time.
There is nothing she likes more than to watch Little Man play and he is just as besotted with her. It is so nice to watch their relationship grow as I did worry that with her being in hospital for so long that he would struggle to bond with her. There was no need to worry he is fiercely protective of her and so caring and helpful.
So for all those asking I hope this answers your questions. She still has a lot of hospital appointments and still has a bit of a fight on her hands but she is doing amazingly well and I couldn’t be prouder. This Christmas will be extra special with this Little Lady around.
