This is the first of my Christmas gift guide posts on the run up to Christmas. I have put together a list of 10 books that I think would be lovely in a Christmas Eve box this year. Christmas Eve boxes are quite a big thing now and they usually include a book or two to share together on Christmas Eve. I love reading a good Christmas story to the kids on the run up to Christmas. So lets get started.
Mog’s Christmas – Mog was a firm favourite of mine when I was a little girl and last year I got this book for Little Man. It’s such a heartwarming story and a perfect Christmas Eve read.
Ten Little Elves – I love this series and a Christmas one is the icing on the cake! Perfect for little ones learning to count and really cute illustrations to match.
Father Christmas – We are off to see this at the theatre right before Christmas so I had to include this one. The illustrations in all of Raymond Briggs’ books are so magical and put you straight into the Christmas mood!
That’s Not My Elf – This is one for the tiny ones. I think most little ones love this series, we have an awful lot of them on our bookshelf so this one is a great one to add to the collection if you are fans too.
The Christmasaurus – All about a little boy and his dinosaur friend on a Christmas adventure, this book by Tom Fletcher is great for the older ones who still get a cheeky Christmas Eve box. Magic on every page.
Christmas Bear – This book is one of those books I pull out every year (it’s in our Christmas decorations box!). It’s a great one to do with kids of all ages with lots of interaction involved too. It’s a lovely ending and a big hit in our house.
Father Christmas & Me – This is another one for the older ones who love getting stuck into a good book. Matt Haig tells an amazing story about an adopted child whose parents are Father & Mary Christmas. The Easter Bunny comes along to stop Christmas and the Christmas family set about saving Christmas!
Mr Christmas – Can I even do a kids book guide without including a Mr Men character? No I thought not too. The Mr Men series never grow old and this one is no exception.
The Smelly Sprout – I love this story all about a poor little sprout who gets chucked out into the snow at Christmas becauase everyone thinks he is smelly and they don’t want to eat him. Not your typical Christmas story but great all the same.
The Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas – My little man is a huge fan of this series and this book does not disappoint either. It has lots of humour and lots of poo!!
I hope this has given you a few ideas of some lovely stories to pop in their Christmas Eve boxes or to just simply read throughout December. Let me know if you have any Christmas book favourites in your house.
