Review – Joie Elevate Group 1/2/3 Car Seat

Car seats are one of those things we, as parents want to get right. They seem like a bit of a mind field when you first have a baby but by the time you have been through a couple you are an expert in them! They do such an important job of keeping our little ones super safe in the car, you can’t get much more important than that! We have been reviewing the Joie Elevate Group 1/2/3 car seat. After two kids and a fair few car seats we know the things that make a good car seat and we definitely think this one is a good one.

The Joie Elevate car seat is a seat that grows with your child as it covers stages 1, 2 and 3 which roughly works out from 9 months all the way through to 12 years old. As we have a 17 month old and a 5 year old we were able to try it out in both modes.

Once unpacked the car seat was easy to put together into the required mode with clear instructions and advice to make sure it was installed properly into the car and the child was strapped in correctly.

When the car seat is in the stage 1 mode it uses the harness strap system. The straps are removable and were easy enough to set up with nice large pads to go on the childs chest. The tensioning strap can be fastened with velcro to the bottom of the seat to stop it hanging and possibly being played with!

Once you are ready to move to the next stage all of the straps can be taken out and the normal car seat belt can be used. When in this mode we really liked how high the back can go as our little man is very tall for his age so it was nice to know it can grow with him too. The back is easy to adjust, just make sure the child is leaning forward when you do it.

The seat feels solid and good quality. We really liked the wrap around protection it provides and the mesh fabric at the sides. This obviously makes it breathable adding to the comfort factor for your child. We chose the ‘cherry’ colour but you can also get it in plain black too. One thing that struck me with the fabric was that it was easy to take off.  We all know the messes our kids can get into in the car so being able to whip the fabric off quickly and bung it in the washing machine was a big plus point. We tested the car seat in our C4 Grand Picasso so we do have a large car, however we kept 2 car seats in and it fitted in perfectly as it is quite slim.

So what did the kids think? Both kids were really comfy in the seat. As I mentioned before Little Man is very tall and he fitted in it really well too. He especially liked the cup holder!

We really liked the Joie Elevate 1/2/3 car seat. It is slim, light but sturdy, comfortable and of course safe. All the car seat boxes safely ticked. As an added bonus it is great value for money retailing at £44.99 from Kiddies Kingdom. They have a great range of Joie Travel Systems for sale. This will last you so many years that the price of it is amazing! We will definitely be using ours.

Could you share other experiences about the equipments/tools for your kids?
