How to have a Fab Family Day Out on a Budget

The summer holidays are coming; 6 weeks of trying to entertain the kids and 6 weeks of potentially expensive days out. School holidays always come with added expense on the family budget so I am sharing 5 tips today on how to have a great family day out on a budget.

1 – Use Voucher Sites – Voucher sites can be your best friend when planning a day out with the kids. Just choose the sort of activity you would like to do or the location you want to visit and see what they have to offer at a discount price. Maybe you would like to see the best family friendly activities in London. If you visit Groupon then they have something like that all sorted for you. It will give you inspiration for things to do and of course it is all at a discount price.

2 – Book your travel in advance – If you are travelling by train then book your tickets nice and early. The closer to the date you get the more expensive the tickets tend to become so get organised and get planning to save yourself a few quid.

3 – Museums & Art Galleries – Before you head somewhere, have a look at what museums and galleries are in the area. They are usually free places to visit and in the school holidays very often put on activities for the kids too.

4 – Pack a picnic – The price of food at attractions can really bump up the price of a day out so pack a picnic and snack for the kids and then all you need is a picnic bench or blanket!

5 – Take Spending Money – Instead of using your bank card when you are out draw out cash before hand. If you work out how much you should need and only use the cash, it will make you think twice about impulse purchases and help you to stay on budget.

I hope these tips helped. Do you have any to add to the list.
