Tomorrow You Are 6
Dear Little Man,
I love writing these letters for you and your sister to read when you are older but oh my, it feels like I just wrote your 5th birthday letter!
So, tomorrow you are 6! This also means that I have been your Mum 6 whole years too, I think we have got on okay don’t you think?
As I sit here writing this the day before your birthday all I can feel is pride. This year you have shown the world what you are really made of. No longer the quiet little boy who turns away when he is spoken to by someone he doesn’t know. Instead you are the one striking up the conversation with a quiet confidence which I really love about you. You have done amazingly at school and really enjoyed it too. You have made friends, faced some pretty big fears and learnt some big life lessons. I know I tell you all the time but I am so proud of you.
6 years ago I looked into your eyes and wondered what on earth I was going to do with you! I had no idea how to be your mummy but that was okay because you showed me anyway. You’ve always been my little team mate and whatever life has thrown at us (and lets be honest it has thrown a fair bit at us) you’ve been there by my side making me carry on. You will never realise what a pillar of strength you have been to me over the last few years.
You are kind, hard working and really really funny. Your dry sense of humour makes me laugh every day. You are an amazing big brother to Little Lady and her biggest cheerleader; you protect her if anyone makes comments about her not walking and you encourage her every day to keep trying. And lets not forget Heidi who you talk about often and make sure she is part of our family in the pictures you draw. They are very lucky girls to have you as their big bro. You are stubborn and quite often drive me round the bend with your stubbornness most days. You are determined and a huge perfectionist. You have no problems correcting someone if they are wrong and you have a massive sense of what it right. Some days you drive me to despair but most days you make me super pleased that you belong to me.
At the moment, Super Mario is your thing, I wonder if it still will be when you are 16? You love to play Super Mario games and after a lot of studying you know every Mario fact there is! Lego is your toy of choice and you have spent hours this year building. You have found a new love for drawing too and over the last few months your creative side has really shined through. At 6 years old you want to be a gaming vlogger on YouTube and your favourite food is pizza.
You are an amazing little boy and I cannot wait to see what being 6 brings for you.
Love Mum (still a little bit gutted you don’t call me Mummy anymore!) xx
