We’re a few weeks into the new year now and it’s always good to start the new year (or any point in the year to be honest) feeling super organised. Our online and digital lives are a big part of life now and they can often become just as cluttered as the more physical things around the house so here are 5 things you can do right now to clear out your life digitally and carry on the year with less junk and clutter.
Sort out your phone photos
We very rarely just take one photo of something nowadays; we tap the camera button numerous times to get the perfect photo but often forget to delete all the duplicates. Go into your phone gallery and delete all of the duplicates or random photos of things that mean nothing now the moment has passed. Pop them into folders of holidays, specific things like birthdays or even just your photos for 2018.
Declutter your social media
If you find that you are scrolling through your feeds and not actually engaging with anything on them then you have too much on there! Get rid of people on Facebook that you never speak to, unfollow accounts on Instagram that don’t make you happy and make your feeds yours again. Scrolling through your feeds should be a pleasant experience and only make you feel happy, inspired or creative. If there are accounts not doing that, get rid of them. Remember you are in control of what you see.
Organise your inbox
We get so many emails a day and lets be honest, a lot of them are junk or things we didn’t even realise we had signed up to. Unsubscribe to newsletters, sort out the junk and set up some folders for the important emails.
Clear out your apps
Our phones and tablets can get so cluttered with apps that we’ve downloaded for a single use and then never bothered to delete them. Get rid of them now! Make your phone easy to use and only have apps on there that you use regularly or that are there for a specific reason such as online banking.
Sort out your passwords
Ever gone to log into somewhere and ended up locking yourself out because you’ve tried so many passwords? I think we all have. There are some great secure password apps out there to store all of your passwords in one place and to save you time. This is especially great for those passwords that require a symbol, number, capital letter and for you to stand on your head while you’re entering it!
So there we go; a quick way to declutter your digital life and to head into 2019 feeling organised in your online world. Have you got any other tips?
