5 Organisation Hacks for a Busy Family Home

Organising my home has been key in helping get my anxiety under control. The two things might sound slightly disconnected but for me being organised really helps my worries calm down. I love to find new hacks and things to make my life easier so I am sharing the top 5 that have worked for me and hopefully will work for you too.

Family Whiteboard

I have seen these called all sorts of names on Pinterest like a Family Control Centre but I’m not that jazzy! A simple whiteboard or pin board in an area of the house that is accessible for everyone has been a great addition for us. Attach the calendar, school letters, appointment cards and anything else that is important you will always know where to find it. We also have an area for food shopping so we can quickly write on there if we have run out of something and I use it for my shopping list that week.

Snack Baskets

I am a basket addict. Whenever I am in the likes of Home Bargains or Poundland I will always pick up a basket. I have found all sorts of uses for them around them but the best one has been for the kids snacks. When we get in from school and nursery and the kids are starving I just grab the basket out of the cupboard and they choose something. It’s so much easier than rummaging   around in the cupboards to find something quickly. It may only save a few minutes but we all know that at the time of the day we need those extra minutes!

Ikea Storage for Toys

Ikea is the King of storage solutions but I have found them especially useful for toys. Their Kallax units are great for toys and have worked great in our playroom and Little Mans bedroom too. They are easy for the kids to use, easy to organise the toys into and they look nice too! We have also used the Ikea spice racks for little mini book shelves and charging stations too.

Marie Kondo the Clothes

I wasn’t hugely convinced about the Marie Kondo method until I watched her series on Netflix but I’m certainly a convert now! It may sound a bit nonsensical, I mean who really needs a special way of folding clothes?! I do! The kids clothes drawers are so much neater now; it is so much easier to find specific items of clothing and much easier if they are choosing their own clothes too.

Upstairs & Downstairs Cleaning Caddy

If you are a Mrs Hinch follower (most of the world seems to be) then you will probably already do this but it’s worked great for me so I had to share it as my final hack. I have one set of cleaning things downstairs and one upstairs purely for ease. I don’t know about you but I find myself cleaning at the strangest of times; I’ll give the bathroom a quick wipe around when Little Lady is having her bedtime milk for example. I don’t have to leave her on her own because I have all the cleaning things upstairs and ready to go.

I hope you find these hacks useful, they are really simple but they can make life so much easier after all that’s what we need when we have a busy family life and home.
