Friday Favourites – April
April went by in a flash but I’m just in time to share my favourites for the month. Every month I will be sharing lots of my favourites from the last few weeks, from books to anxiety techniques and from cleaning products to podcasts. So lets see what April had to offer!
My favourite read in April has to be Part-time Working Mummy A Patchwork Life by Rachaele Hambleton. I have followed Rachaele for years on Instagram so was excited to hear she had written a book. This book will make you laugh and cry in equal measures. Rachaele tells her story in such a heartbreaking yet inspiring way. She has turned her tough times into positives for others and really is an inspiration. It’s a must read!
This month the biggest take away I have had from my CBT sessions for my anxiety is how to use Postponement as a way of coping with every day anxiety. If you find you worry constantly throughout the day then postponement could really help you too. It works by taking an anxious thought or worry and saying to yourself ‘I’ll worry about it later.’ Sounds too easy doesn’t it? The most important part of this is that you will worry about it later. Set yourself half an hour every day to sit and worry about whatever is bothering you. You can’t go over half an hour, that’s important too. The idea is that a lot of the time you will have forgotten a lot of the worries that you had earlier in the day but also that with a dedicated time to worry about something you can also work out what you are going to do about it and make a plan rather than it playing on your mind all day. I realise it sounds a bit far fetched and it does take a bit of practice but give it a go for a few days and let me know how you get on!
Kids and my light coloured walls has been a battle that I haven’t been winning. Dolls pushchairs and remote control cars were scratching the walls and leaving dark marks. I may be a little late to the party but I have discovered Magic Erasers and love them! They’re super easy to use and so far I haven’t found a mark that I can’t get off with them!
My favourite podcast for April has been What I Wish I Had Known by Lauren from The Parenting Chapter, Jess from The Fat Funny One and Jo from Lobella Loves. Each episode focuses on a different subjects such as anxiety, divorce and grief. The one that drew me to their podcast was their episode about the Sisterhood and I have been catching up on previous episodes every since.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again if you need to get organised buy shares in a basket company! The quickest way to organise a room, a cupboard or desk space is by decluttering and then organising whatever you have left into baskets and then keeping it that way. You will find stuff easier, put things away quicker and feel like the organisational queen!
The book I have chosen for this month is quite an old one but Little Man has developed a new love for it this month. You Choose by Pippa Goodhart allows children to use their imagination and tell their own stories. With pages filled of gorgeous illustrations, they can choose their home, their outfits and even their jobs. We have just purchased You Choose in Space and so far that is a hit too!
So there are Aprils Friday Favourites done and dusted. Let me know what you have loved this month!
